Does kindness get in the way of success?

Would you rather be loved or right?
Are mean bosses more successful?
Does diversity and inclusion work?
Or do you succeed by being stressful?
Is kindness here to save the day?
According to psychometrics
You’re unlikely to be unliked
And to also be effective
Kind bosses mean that people stay
It’s proven and not subjective
That companies make more money
And their teams better collectives
Positive behavior cascades–
Organizational psychologists
Say workers pay good deeds forward–
Now you know what the knowledge is
Acts of kindness are proactive
Fix the printer, water the plants
Small acts mean higher performance
Dogs that eat dogs do not advance
Kindness is a Current Asset
It should be a financial line item
It’s hard to measure like DEI, but
If these make money, why fight ‘em?
Now diversity is controversial–
There are other skills and motivations
But all these dimensions should be measured
To improve the workforce of the nation
If you can measure you can act
And can act for the right reason
Not a fixed benchmark for us all
But goals that shoot for inclusion
Targets should not be just profits
It’s diversity that matches
The team, business, and its clients
It is equity that success hatches
Add kindness to the formula
Measure and improve perception
Fine-tune based on human desires:
Promote Equity Inception
So let’s build a smarter machine
And one that success-calibrates
With equity in and its output too
Then equity will success celebrate
If Success Powers Equity
And if a virtuous circle is best
Then what goes around comes around
And Equity Powers Success!
